Limited Edition Space tourist

The craziest ideas are often put to effect eventually. So why shouldn't we fly into space as tourists one day? What opportunities, what boundless freedom await us there? Inspired by the renewed drive to explore the moon and Mars and discover new, habitable planets, porcelain artist Maria Walther came up with the humorous idea of a little astronaut for this sculpture. Our globetrotter is intent on probing new horizons holding his beverage-to-go cup - the original of which was recently designed by her Meissen colleague Zhuoyu Hou - in one hand and a wheelie case in the other. With a jetpack on his back and plenty of lift-off power, this adventurous spirit also plans to capture his experiences on camera. Unreal or hilarious moments such as these frequently manifest themselves in Maria Walther's imagination in the form of comic-style scenes, one of which she has now carried across to our material world as a porcelain sculpture. Her works of art often tell surprising stories in Meissen porcelain.
