The "Monkey Musician with Drum" is part of a series of hand-painted collectible figures from 2016. It is a new interpretation of the "Monkey Chapel" by Johann Joachim Kaendler, the famous master of the craft, from 1753. The focus of the figures is on expression, so they are concentrated on the essentials. The artist, former chief sculptor Peter Strang, has developed a new working style for the monkeys: he constructs each figure completely freely without using model molds. The monkeys are then hand-painted. Only the basic colors are used so that the overall picture of the orchestra remains coherent.
